April 21 and 28

Hi All - We're very new to this (and to blogging) so bear with us in our ineptitude and lack of details on this blog. Next time we'll take better notes so we have more to write! :o)

1. April 21st was a little busy for us (first day!) with visitors coming to see the O'Mara's last Sunday. But we managed, I think. Nothing really to report from that week. Just several visitor families to write up. I did get thrown when a guest asked where the men's bathroom was and all I could think of was the one he wasn't supposed to go to because of being in the SS wing. :o/ Also that date, Don ended up vacuuming three classrooms (Nursery, EP and LP) because the floors seemed dirty (one had staples on the floor). The LP seemed to have been vacuumed by set-up (?); it was more the other two that needed a touch-up still. Just FYI.

2. April 28th had a return family that had visited last week (that's nice!). This family also asked us for more information on the human trafficking website that was mentioned last week (?? we didn't know since we weren't in the service). I suggested they go to the Hub (and gave them directions since they didn't know where it was) and talk to someone in the Resource Center or maybe a pastor that would be in there.

3. Also this past Sunday, we had a definite lack of adult helpers so we felt like we were scrambling a lot! We were glad we had four kids, because they were all "employed" :o) Betty Kollar had informed Blake that Nicole was sick that morning and couldn't work in the Nursery. Blake suggested Don ask Betty to step in for her daughter if she would be willing, but when I asked her, she declined. So Don ended up staying in the Nursery to be that 2nd adult (with Sara Drury as the other). There were plenty of young helpers, just not that 2nd adult.

4. The Daileys were late coming to church (teachers of 1st/2nd grade) and Brooke ended up not coming, home sick. Becky Landis stayed with the class for a few minutes while we tried to figure out what to do with this, and then Dave showed up. So with Brook's absence, that left another 2nd adult gap. Autumn stepped in with Dave to help (she's 16, not an adult, but close). At one point, Dave needed to leave his class to go help Kyra with a dirty diaper, and so Conrad (age 18) stepped in to be the adult. A bit crazy!

5. The Franks (3rd grade teachers) classroom also lacked a 2nd adult. Jonas (age 14) stood in for his mom, who didn't make it to church. We spent the morning walking up and down the hallways to check in on various classrooms as that 2nd adult "eye". Not sure what else we should've done?

6. Two teachers needed to leave their classsrooms at the end to go back to worship service. Both teachers found replacements though to step in for them (Kristy Hard had Cheryl Coulson step in, and Kim Knaub had Caleb (17) step in for her.)

7. We noticed on the Attendance List for Mikayla Folk (6th grade) that her parents were not listed as Members. I think they are, though, right? (They joined when we joined.)

8. Also, Sherri Stehr informed me that she lost her ID card and requested a new one (Joce).

I think that's it.

Thanks,
Tara
