A compliment to the aides, I believe most came back early and that was very refreshing.
Early Preschool Class: Shawn came to us right when he came to church and said he never got anyone to help teach with him. I assured him we would find someone. He said his son had helped him previously but that he wasn't there sunday morning. Galen spoke more with Shawn later and I must say, personally this man looked like he was near to tears and we felt, he was doing us a favor even by coming to church with out his wife who is at home dealing with some serious stuff. Shawn was so torn as he felt like he should be home with his wife and how he REALLY wasn't comfortable at all asking any women (young adult girl, older woman to teach with him) Galen totally got that. I guess we should have been more sensitive to that fact. We placed Anthony R. in to help him along with Gabrielle Landis. I realize like Jane shared later, she was not comfortable leaving mercy in there with two men teaching and so she stayed, but we really didn't know what to do and shawn just really broke our hearts. When you hear the hard realities of someone's personal life, you kind of let some rules slide as it can all seem so trivial in the light of someone's personal pain. Shawn said he is done teaching so I just want to confirm that he is taken off the teaching list.
Jane shared that we really need to look at the snack situation for the early preschool class and probably church wide at some point. We have children with milk allergies who cannot have sourdough pretzels which is what has been provided currently in the class. you have some children bringing in their own snack which contains items like peanuts when you have students in the class highly allergic to peanuts. Something I guess we need to have conversation about at our next meeting. '
Happy New Year

CM report from Dec. 8th
A good quiet morning. :)
just a few notes:
Justin and Gretchen Barry would like permanent ID Cards
Children: Lila Ann Barry 10/20/09
Bryce Barry 7/7/11
Mercy Barry 10/28/13 (6 week old baby)
I believe the early preschool depleted their pretzel supply.
ALLERGY notice. Please label Nadia Choe allergic to nuts and shellfish
Regarding prize box. Just an FYI Krin, the bracelets were chosen out of the prize box by the little girls who said there verse. Wanted you to know those were the last bracelets if you wanted to restock those things till the next time. It was fun to hand out the prizes to the children who did there memory verse. The kids were so excited and I'm hoping we can continue to encourage parents and teachers to have even more children earn a reward.
Think that's it. Enjoy the snow today. I know two little boys that are beyond happy. :)

Sunday Oct. 6th
Birthdate for Elliott Choe Jan. 7, 2010
Both Brenda Reinford and Doug Miller thought they were on the month of Oct. Thankfully Brenda R. had found out ahead of time so she didn't come prepared to teach but Doug Miller was kind of surprised when he walked in and saw the Rudluff's in the classroom to teach for Oct. Not sure what happened there?
The Yeakels were pretty much sweating buckets in their classroom, it was HOT. Room #229. Not sure if we can have something adjusted for next sunday, although it will probably be cold outside till then, but it was so warm and they can't have the door open as the little ones will wonder out. the hallway is very cool, their room sweltering.
I think we need to keep on eye on the K/1st grade combined classes. Brenda had 18 in the class, 3 special needs this past Sunday. Brooke Landis was visiting with the knepps. Anyway, Brenda could handle it fairly well, but that is a lot of kids for that age group considering there is more teaching time then in the younger grades. Just want to be aware and not lose good teachers because we are putting too much on them.
Brenda Alburger said she had gone to the web site to print out the new Bible Memory but that it was the old one still on the web site. I didn't check it but wanted to make a note.
Is it okay we moved the coordinators table back to where we use to be? Brandon was on set up and he kept questioning us because they, the set up team, was told to keep it up in front of the new nursery location. I feel bad, I think we are confusing them.
A little chaotic afterwards regarding picking up of children due to the baptism. Seemed like a lot of confusion regarding that as well.
There are still packets of papers to be handed out to people that could not attend the teachers meeting the other Sunday. Names are written on each copy so hopefully next Sunday we can get the rest distributed. I placed them in the front of the bin.
Have a good week,
Teresa

Scott and I definetly felt rusty this morning after a long break from coordinating and it showed.
We had two different teachers out sick and needed to find replacements for the on a whim. So if you see Scott and Bev Silver thank them for serving in the 2nd grade classroom.
Wendy Freed was also out, but we did not replace her with another adult. Couldn't find one. However, without even trying we managed to replace her with 6 youth helpers. HA! It just happened by circumstance. Sam Stehr was there to help for Sean Daly, who didn't need him. Jade and Michaela were in there to help with their own younger siblings. We put Charissa in there because she was the floater. And Brian and Sarah were on the schedule to be in there. So needless to say Joanna had plenty of extra hands for that very large and very busy class.
Scott spent a chunk of time talking with the Massey family. The would like Joshua to officially be moved up to Late Preschool. So his name tag and the new attendance should reflect that.
What do we do when an older sibling comes to pick up their younger sibling, but they do not have their parents ID card? Do we let them through on a temporary card, just let them through or do we send them back to their parents to get the red ID card and come back with it? I had two different older siblings without cards this past Sunday and I really did not know how best to handle it.
It felt like a very busy morning, but I know I was also overwhelmed to be back. We had a few visitors, some questions including a few teachers thinking the CM meeting was that afternoon rather than the 28th. We had several bathroom breaks. A teacher who didn't bring snack looking for something to offer her kids. And then the stuff mentioned above.
I think I am going to be the first person to bring this up. I don't really know how others feel about it. But I really struggled with the new set-up in regards to where the coordinators table is. I totally get that it needs to be that far up the hallway because of the nursery change. But I am petitioning we find another classroom for the nursery and move the coordinators table back down. It is WAY to far away from the bathrooms to feel like you are keeping things secure yet being able to serve for the potty breaks that occur. Also, the speaker is just above the table and it while I thought I would appreciate being able to hear the music and the service I actually found it very loud and distracting. It was hard at different times to have the noise from the speaker above and having disucssion or answering questions with teachers at the same time. At one point I felt like I was yelling just to speak over the noise from the service and I twice I had to ask them to repeat their question because I couldn't hear them. So I wanted to share my two cents for what it is worth. I know I personally don't like change, so I really tried to keep an open mind all morning, but that location for the coordinators just wasn't working for me. I would love to hear others thoughts.

Sept. 8th coordinators report
Just a few things.
Two aides did not show, Claire Horrocks for EP and Charlotte Coulson for MK. We scrambled at the last minute and found some willing helpers.
Spoke with Joe D. regarding EP class. She feels like the class is getting larger and they are now given a smaller space, atleast it feels like that to her. She did have 12 on Sunday with atleast 3-4 regulars not there, so she could have a fairly large class of 2 and 3 yr. olds. I will speak with you in person Blake about my conversation I had with her regarding Joshua Massey.
Krin, we took care of all the whiteboard markers. They are all in bags marked for the teachers to return to cart when finished class.
There are just a few red permanent id cards to finish handing out.
Have a great week.

July 14 and 21
Relatively quiet two weeks. Just a few items.
Eilee Reinford asked to me removed from the Nursery aide list. I also was looking ahead today and saw Justin Reed's name on for a class room aide, I believe he is on for the 4th Sunday. I guess we should replace him as he will not be helping anymore on Sunday mornings.
Joe and CJ Guckavan would like to add Jadon on the Early Preschool list. Jadon's birthday is 10/21/10
The e-mails you needed: Brendon and Easter Alburger said they are in the process of getting a new e-mail and will notify the church office when that happens.
Doug and Lynda Fisher e-mail Lyndadfisher@gmail.com ( she thought the church had her e-mail but gave it to me again )
Still trying to get Massey's and Moore
Blake: Regarding Nursing mom's room. We were told they had only two rocking chairs, use to be 3. Of the two remaining, one is broken or isn't really safe to sit on. So, apparently we could use some more rocking chairs.
I think that's it.
Have a good week.

June 9th
Bible memory gift cards were handed out by the teachers. We thought that would make more of an impact if the teacher presented the gift cards in front of the class. Give incentive to others. Tara, there might be one or two in the box that need to get handed out yet as the student was not in class yesterday. Also, Tara and Don, please just remind the teachers to hand out any remaining cards they have in their binders. Quite a few students were not in class so they said they would hand them out next week. It might just be good to remind them as the the kids that did get them were very excited!!
Regarding the aide list. Kyle Clemmer was on yesterday but I believe was up with the Allentown Group. Should he be taken off? Also, Becky Landis asked about Gabrielle serving the second Sunday? We did not have her on the list. She is on for the 5th Sunday. Becky was told she would start helping on the second Sunday, she was just checking in with us as it was the second sunday yesterday. I told her possibly there will be a new updated aide list coming out.
We could use a refill of Instant Ice Packs. We used one yesterday on Collin Smith who got a nice bump on his forehead out at the playground.
Also just an FYI, this past Sunday we had two more visitors where the parent or relative bringing the children had a different last name then the children. I talked with Krin and we are going to file the visitor cards under the child's last name since that is the name that would be on attendance sheets etc. I wrote down the relationship to child of the person filling out the card. For example, the one person was an Aunt bringing her niece and nephew.
Thanks,
Teresa

May 26th
A nice quiet morning.
Krin : 1st and 2nd grade updated their memory verse sheets and were excitedly asking their teachers when they will get their awards. Wanted to pass that info on to you!
Also, one note for next Sunday June 2nd. The cafeteria will be decorated and set up for the grad ceremony and refreshment time. I'm thinking it might not be the best for teachers to have snack in there, unless there will be small section not used, I'm not sure if all tables will be used. Possibly if it's nice teachers could have snack outside. Something to be aware of!
That's it for now.
Happy Memorial Day

May 5th
Things were relatively quiet most of the morning till about half way through class. Combination of the filming crew making the mother's day video, various classes heading outside using 3 different exits and the service seeming to end a little early (or maybe it just seemed that way) teachers and us caught off guard as half the students were either outside or being filmed when parents were heading towards classrooms for pick up. This was one of the moments where we as coordinators felt like the most inept people and doubt if any of the return visitors will even come again as we literally could not locate their children. Extremely embarrassing and causing me and Elyse (she takes after her mom) to feel so stressed. Elyse was a huge help on Sunday as it seemed Galen and I were both called to help in a variety of needs for different teachers and aiding this filming crew.
The moral of our Sunday, when the last song is being sung, head outside and have teachers and students return to classrooms asap. Also, as coordinators, go around and check all 3 outside doors to make sure they are closed. WE had 3 that were propped open. Wondering Blake if you would like to make a universal rule for all teachers to only use the cafeteria door to go out?? The fact these classes were all going out different locations was one of the reasons we could not find some of these students. We did not realize there was a class at the little separate playground down at the end of the hall outside. I do not like to have to give another ""rule" but it definitely helps when the classes go by our table for us to visually see who is going out. Just a thought. This was the first Sunday things were like this and I realize the filming crew were taking kids outside as well and that just added to the chaos.
Why is it the children that you sort of lose, temporarily, are the families that are newer to the church or a visitor coming back 2nd or 3rd time. ugh!! We had 3 we were trying to find :)
Enjoy your week.

April 21 and 28
Hi All - We're very new to this (and to blogging) so bear with us in our ineptitude and lack of details on this blog. Next time we'll take better notes so we have more to write! :o)
1. April 21st was a little busy for us (first day!) with visitors coming to see the O'Mara's last Sunday. But we managed, I think. Nothing really to report from that week. Just several visitor families to write up. I did get thrown when a guest asked where the men's bathroom was and all I could think of was the one he wasn't supposed to go to because of being in the SS wing. :o/ Also that date, Don ended up vacuuming three classrooms (Nursery, EP and LP) because the floors seemed dirty (one had staples on the floor). The LP seemed to have been vacuumed by set-up (?); it was more the other two that needed a touch-up still. Just FYI.
2. April 28th had a return family that had visited last week (that's nice!). This family also asked us for more information on the human trafficking website that was mentioned last week (?? we didn't know since we weren't in the service). I suggested they go to the Hub (and gave them directions since they didn't know where it was) and talk to someone in the Resource Center or maybe a pastor that would be in there.
3. Also this past Sunday, we had a definite lack of adult helpers so we felt like we were scrambling a lot! We were glad we had four kids, because they were all "employed" :o) Betty Kollar had informed Blake that Nicole was sick that morning and couldn't work in the Nursery. Blake suggested Don ask Betty to step in for her daughter if she would be willing, but when I asked her, she declined. So Don ended up staying in the Nursery to be that 2nd adult (with Sara Drury as the other). There were plenty of young helpers, just not that 2nd adult.
4. The Daileys were late coming to church (teachers of 1st/2nd grade) and Brooke ended up not coming, home sick. Becky Landis stayed with the class for a few minutes while we tried to figure out what to do with this, and then Dave showed up. So with Brook's absence, that left another 2nd adult gap. Autumn stepped in with Dave to help (she's 16, not an adult, but close). At one point, Dave needed to leave his class to go help Kyra with a dirty diaper, and so Conrad (age 18) stepped in to be the adult. A bit crazy!
5. The Franks (3rd grade teachers) classroom also lacked a 2nd adult. Jonas (age 14) stood in for his mom, who didn't make it to church. We spent the morning walking up and down the hallways to check in on various classrooms as that 2nd adult "eye". Not sure what else we should've done?
6. Two teachers needed to leave their classsrooms at the end to go back to worship service. Both teachers found replacements though to step in for them (Kristy Hard had Cheryl Coulson step in, and Kim Knaub had Caleb (17) step in for her.)
7. We noticed on the Attendance List for Mikayla Folk (6th grade) that her parents were not listed as Members. I think they are, though, right? (They joined when we joined.)
8. Also, Sherri Stehr informed me that she lost her ID card and requested a new one (Joce).
I think that's it.
Thanks,
Tara

April 14th
Just a few items......
We need more visitor CD's , only two left
Ethan Daily is moving up to LP #153
Genevieve Wyble moving up to EP #202
Need more Bible memory sheets
Need more encouragement cards
Late Preschool teachers noted a lot of staples on the classroom rug, not the best for the children playing on the floor. Not quite sure how to resolve that, but thought I would note it.
Regarding printing out of the new lessons: one of the teachers asked if there is anyway the office could print out the month's worth of lessons ahead for the teachers and have them in a binder. She said it uses a lot of ink and doesn't want to use up all her colored ink from her printer on the SS lessons. Maybe there is a more printer friendly version, not sure.
That's all for this week.
Don and Tara will officially be on their own this next Sunday. If we as coordinators could possibly check in with them through out the morning, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

March 24 & 31, 2013
Two very quiet weeks. There are only a few matters of business:
1) Jason & Kelly moved Caden to the Late Preschool class. He will be four in July, but they felt he was towering over the other kids and this would be a better fit for him.
2) Olivia Reinford needs to be added to to Dan & Brenda's ID, added to the Kindergarten attendance and name tags. How exciting is that!?!
3) Jason and Maribel Hackman need new ID cards. There ID #160.
4) The nursery is out of clorox wipes to wipe down the toys.
That's all. Jane

Feb. 10th
We need more visitor information cards. We are totally out.
Scott and Jane, a few things for you for next Sunday: Jesus Arocho will be teaching alone so he will need a helper in the class. Sandra will be away.
Gloria O'Brien could not locate Sean's sticker. She said someone may have taken it by accident. I said we would see if it shows up on the sheet next Sunday. We think someone may have just taken it by mistake.
Regarding Julia Crawford #113 and Gabriella Crawford #239 (both Al and Celeste Gorski's grandchildren) There mother, Michelle came to me on Sunday and told me they had two different numbers. It is probably because the one child was registered a while ago under the grandparents and now the new baby is coming with michelle and we probably gave a new number. I did not get a chance to talk with Michelle after the service. Jane, could you please give her the ID cards for Crawford #239 that are in the bin yet. Tell her we will assign both children this number. We should put both girls under Michelle's name, not sure if her last name is Gorski or Crawford. We should ask and get correct info to Jocelyn and then switch the numbers both to 239. Please apologize to Michelle that it has taken us a little while to get this straightened out. Call me if any questions about this.
Amy Massey #566 would like permanent ID cards. Her children are Taylor Massey 3/25/02 and Joshua Massey 6/19/10
Please move Moriah Schwenks tag to Late Preschool. She has moved up.
Micah Godshall would like to be added to the schedule for Early or Late Preschool as an aide or another slot if needed. You can remove Emily Shotts from the list. She is no longer available to serve.
I think that's all for this week.

Jan.27th
A few things.....
Brenna Seely moved up to the Early Preschool Class
We need to purchase more Cold Packs for the First Aid kit, we used the last one on Sunday.
It would be good to remind the teachers and nursery aides to try and come back to their rooms right after the singing, before the announcements. Especially the nursery aidesi This Sunday we were having some parents waiting in the hall for aides/teachers to show up in their rooms. Not good, especially for visiting families.
Also, another reminder to teachers to please inform us if they are going to be teaching alone as we NEED to have another person in the room with them. We didn't realize till half way through the class time that Jeff Rudluff was teaching alone as Carol stayed in the EP class with her bewho they brought with them to church.
Jocelyn, please add Rebekah Hughes to the nursery schedule for the 4th Sunday in place of Janessa Hughes.
Sorry Jocelyn, I left the attendance sheets for Jan. in the file box on our cart.
Have a good week.

Quick couple things
OK, so I forgot to post a couple things from a few weeks ago when we were coordinating. They may have been addressed by another coordinator since then, but just in case I thought I would write them quick.
1. The Randolph's need replacement ID cards.
2. Gail Reinford asked that Lianna be removed from the 5th week for nursery and you put her in Lianna's place.
I also had two questions, probably for Blake, but may need to be discussed further at our next coordinators meeting.
1. What is the rule for who volunteers in the classroom? I thought there was an underlying rule that there always needed to be two adults in every classroom. It is seeming that we have been getting pretty far away from that rule in some of the classes as one adult is serving with their youth child rather than two adults. I just want to be assured that this practice is acceptable because I have been seeing it happen more and more and some of the youth are on the younger end of the spectrum.
2. How do we handle the situation when a youth helper is in the nursery and a few of her friends decide they want to "volunteer" their services by hanging out in there that morning too? I have had this happen twice now and I don't want to be the "mean" coordinator who boots them out if it is OK. Plus I want to make sure if it is not OK, that all other coordinators are being "mean" too.
That's all.
