Our morning started out very uneventful. Everything seemed to flow very well for the equip classes at 9:00. We arrived at 8:30. Galen took that time to put up signs and set things out for the children's ministry classes. I mainly directed families towards the equip classes and told them where the child care rooms were located. I did not need to register anyone. Galen and I sat in on the one class and came out around 9:40 to sit out front for registering children for church.
The first part of the morning went very smooth. A few returning visiting families but nothing out of the ordinary. Things felt like they fell apart once the children started heading to their classes. I had been asked for an aide in the 1st/2nd grade class as one of the teachers could not be there today. This would of been fine had my aides showed up. 3 of our aides never showed up and we could not find them. I believe the Suarez's are in Florida? Eden and Gabriella were on today and so was Becky Jones who we could not find. We have had to track Becky down before. This is where I get a little stressed . I know we have lots of people wanting to help but it's this last minute, trying to think of who to ask, trying not to use the same people all the time and today we seemed to have numerous young children crying off and on all morning. We pulled in Elyse as it's just easier to ask her then pull someone from the service. She was fine to help out. EP, LP and 1st and 2nd had aides. the kindergarten class was okay. A note for the nursery. I believe there were 4 adults in there today and they were all needed. They may have had only 4-5 babies but I think they were all crying for a good while in the beginning. Just note that I think two of the Sunday's we only have two persons scheduled for the nursery.
Right after we got everything calmed down with the aide situation we had an EP aide come out and tell us one of the children threw up all over the aide and the floor. This was a small fiasco to say the least. We did not know what to do with all the kids as there was really no other place to move them and we didn't want to combine them with the other preschool class. We pulled Jan from the service and he got out his shopvac, rubber gloves and chemicals and cleaned up the mess. Galen reconfigured the border panels and gave the class a smaller area away from the soiled area. Upon talking with the mom, the child had told her before class that she did not feel well. Another sibling was in the service because she had just been sick and they did not want her in the class room yet. I must confess Galen and I were extremely frustrated with the situation. We do not know how to convey to parents to please do not put their children in class if they are at all not feeling well, if they can help it. We totally understand children get sick very spontaneously at times. Ours have done it. But, if your child tells you they do not feel well, please take others into consideration at that moment. We felt so bad pulling Jan, yet again from the service. The teachers did so good at trying to keep things in control with all the cleaning and moving going on around the children.
A note of thanks to Jocelyn for the second sheets attatched to the attendance sheets. Thanks so much. I love it.
Have a good week everyone.
