I've been thinking about our meeting a bit since yesterday. Someone mentioned that the K class is a grade school class. We have actually been treating it as a transitional class. It's not fully preschool; it's not totally grade school. We have a loose schedule for the teachers to follow which incorporates both a lesson and free play because we think it's unrealistic to expect these five-year-old children to be buckled to desks the entire hour. We do not invite the K class to assembly because, when we did, it was too much for most of them.
I just want to put this out there for the sake of clarity. Any thoughts?

I suggest we include the K class in the assembly on the 30th to observe how it goes. I suggest we use the lesson for the 30th for the assembly and I wanted to ask for any creative ideas on how to plan and run the 75 minutes we have that day...one of the highlights will be to honor our 6th graders for officially graduating from childrens' ministry.

Oops, I forgot - as soon as I hit reply, I forgot about replying to everyone) My bad. Anyhow, I agree with you about them having split teaching time/ play time, and also not having them in assemblys. My point was just with Kindergarten being a "grade" in school, that they would also follow the same transitioning that the other grades do in the fall, and not have kids entering the K class mid-year. I think the way the class itself is being run, is totally fine.

Blake, do you remember that we started with K in the assembly, and it was requested we not invite them because they were too young?
