Coordinators blog Nov.20

Choir dismissal went better this morning. thanks Jocelyn for the attendance sheets. all teachers now have in their folders the list from their class of who is participating in choir. We went around at 11:20 to dismiss for choir.

I just have a thought regarding choir that I wanted to run past everyone. The practice time just seems so inconvenient for so many. It just seems to negatively affect the teachers, the kids left behind in the rooms and any visitors. I was wondering till another year, what it would look like if the children were brought to the cafeteria immediately upon coming to church at 10. Have their practice time during the worship time slot on Sunday morning and then proceed to class. The amount of practice time would be about the same as they are getting now and it wouldn't interfere with any aspect of their class time. this would also illiminate the situation of teachers being asked to "strongly" encourage an unreluctant student to go to choir, at the parents request. We have students not wanting to go and teachers questioning how much they are to push. Would love feedback.

We filed an accident report for Sophia Ordenana, she is in the late preschool class. 3 little girls were running to the bathroom and Sophia wasn't watching where she was going and ran head first into the cement wall. She had a very large egg shaped lump immediately show up on her forehead. We called for her mom. We got ice paks out of the first aide kit. We should purchase new ones to replace the two we used. Also, we could use children's liquid tylenol. All that we could find was adult ibuprophen. Sophia's mom is a nurse and she was wonderful, very calm. Galen and I thought it might be nice for someone from the office or we could call if we can get a phone number and just check in with her this week.

Courtney Markland would like permanent cards. Her children are Cassidy Markland 12/3/06 and Jacob Markland 7/23/09.

The sound wasnt' working for Scott Hendricks and Zachary. Not sure if that got corrected.

A note for the set up guys next week. All classroom doors were open but when they were shut they locked from inside. They could not be open unless someone let you in the room. I guess they weren't totally unlocked. Galen said you needed a key to unlock them all the way.

Have a Great Thanksgiving everyone.

Sunday, November 6

Just a couple of notes:

-Just wondering if we should remove a nursery aide or two from the 1st Sundays, and put them on another Sunday. Cheryl Coulson always brings both of her daughters when she is working in there, leaving way too many nursery workers.

-Please add the OrdeƱana girls to the permanent roster and nametags.
  • Olivia 3/1/03
  • Jessenia 8/25/05
  • Sophia 5/18/08
-Also add:
  • Mikayla Folk 10/30/00

I think that's all for today!

Sunday, October 30th

Hi All -
Just a reminder (Joce, you probably totally have all of this down already) but just thought I'd mention that we can probably remove Sebastian Araujo and the Prosseda girls from the class lists, and add JJ & Susie Alleman and Grace Pampel.
Jason Alleman and his wife asked if they may move their daughter Marie (who is a little over two years old) into the late preschool class. The said she is mature, and the crying of the younger ones in early pre, makes her not want to go into class. Is this ok, Blake? If so, we can probably make the change for the new attendance sheets coming out.
I'm not sure if all of us know this, but just thought I'd mention that Joce is able to re-use the label sheets that still have good labels on them, if they are not ripped. So instead of ripping them, we can just pull off the ones that have been printed on, and when we have a nice pile accumulating in our bin, we can get them to her to be used again. Just thought I'd mention that in case some of you did not know.
Lastly, Joce, I was wondering if you could send an e-mail out to all of the teachers reminding them to encourage the kids to memorize their verses. As I was doing rounds yesterday, there were some classes that had nothing marked on the papers, so I'm wondering if things are getting overlooked, or if some teachers didn't understand the new incentive program. My Bec has mentioned that her teachers have never even mentioned the incentives to them, or checked their verses.
I think that's it for now! Thanks!

October 16th and 23rd

After so much confusion on my part, Ed and I finally arrived on the correct Sundays to fulfill our duties and all went well.

Just a few things to report...

Late preschool needs a second aide. Their is one person designated for Myka but an additional aide is needed to help with the rest of the class. If Myka is not at church on any given Sunday, his aide can be released or see if he/she is needed elsewhere.

Leanna Reinford offered to be an aide an additional time/month if needed.

Trish Mellinger told me that ONLY FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, the 6th grade will hold class on the 1st and 3rd Sundays rather than the 2nd and 4th.

That's all. Hope you're all having a joy-filled week.

coordinators report for Oct.2

A few notes from this morning.

Copier needs a new black ink cartridge, HP60.

Jared and Abby Alleman requested permanent CM cards for them and their children. They will be leaving at some point to head overseas but for now would love permanent cards. Children are JJ Alleman 8/21/07 and Susie Alleman 9/18/09.

Two aides never showed up. Sandra and Rebecca Arocho.

Matt Colefesh started teaching the first time today. He came out numerous times, could not locate anything. Are first time teachers given "guidance", "instruction" as to where "everything is located"? Galen helped him find everything, but it would of been so helpful for Matt to kind of maybe sat in with another teacher atleast once or met with someone before today. We didn't realize either, till class was almost over that he was alone. After a talk with him I did remember, vaguely seeing an e-mail from Jocelyn saying Matt would need an aide, he didn't say anything and I totally never thought about it. We told him to always ask the coordinators for an aide if his wife will not be with him.

In thinking about that e-mail I saw from Jocelyn, which I totally didn't retain in my memory, probably because we weren't on that week, even though the request for the aide is for the entire month of October, how can we follow through with something like that just to make sure an aide is available for him, especially if he forgets to ask. Unless, you are all super good at remembering from week to week Jocelyn's e-mails that might pertain to numerous weeks, I was wondering what might help. Obviously I'm blogging that he will need an aide and Jane will probably note that for next week but will the person remember in two weeks. My whole point is, would it help just to have a little clip board or something in the front of our bin with notes like that. I guess this would just apply to requests that would fall on more than one Sunday, just like Matt Coleflesh needing an aide for the entire month of October. Sorry if this is confusing.

That's it for this week. Since I'm getting this out so soon I'm probably forgetting something but if so, I'll post again.

update from Sept. 18th

A few notes from Sunday.

Please highlight Ethan Dailey's name tag for allergies.

Regarding the nursery. There was only one adult (scott silver) and three young girls in the nursery. Chad and Sarah Clemens were scheduled and I know they had sent an e-mail a while back saying they were going to be out a lot with sports on sunday's. It appears like they haven't gotten replacements. Could we check with them and see what we should do as far as keeping them on or removing their names and getting a permanent person in there place. I was hoping to relieve scott as he and bev have their hands full right now with a newborn and Aubrey's having a hard time in early preschool, so they are out a lot with her. He was fine to stay in when the clemens did not show up. But, we definatley needed to have two adults in the room. It's a lot for the young girls when the babies are fussy.

Maybe it would be good to remind all the teachers at our meeting on Oct. 9th to please try and notify the coordinators before Sunday morning if they are unable to teach. The early preschool teacher told me sunday morning she was battling a cold and was not planning on teaching. Galen and Olivia took over and filled in and it wasn't a huge problem. But, if Galen wasn't available it would of been a little more stressful.

The Reed's are filling in for us as coordinators this Sunday the 25th and we are taking there spot on Oct. 2.

Have a good week.

Reply to Sept. 4 & 11

Hi Coordinators!

Just replying to a few of Steve & Krin's notes on the last blog...

  • Updates were made for Julia Smith and those entering nursery.
  • That's fine about Sean's aide. For when the Loux's teach, Triston can serve the whole month and we will give the rest of the aides off. I'll inform the Loux's too and inquire if Triston would want the other months off then.
  • The new memory verse sheets will be available to give to the teachers this Sunday and the teachers are aware of this new program.
  • New cards were sent over.
Thanks everyone!! Have a great weekend!!
