Good morning Coordinators,

The past two weeks went very smoothly and not all our aides were even needed...a few were sent back into the service.

New memory verses were handed out to each class. Only the 6th grade has not gotten theirs since they did not have class this past Sunday. They are labeled and in the green file folder.

This past week was lesson 38...in looking ahead in the coloring sheet bin there doesn't seem to be coloring sheets for lessons 39 or 41. I don't know why it's just those two weeks. Do those lessons just not include a coloring sheet, Blake? Teachers will be asking for it next week, I'm sure.

The routine we've established for the Christmas choir is this:
a.) the choir participants/attendance sheets are in the green attendance file
b.) just before 11:30 go to each class and collect the children whose name are on your choir attendance sheet
c.) give attendance sheets to Carol Rudloff who will then take attendance again once choir participants are all seated in the cafeteria...Krin could you please stay in cafe. and help Carol with this since she is still unfamiliar with some of the kids (if she is still unfamiliar with the kids after your two weeks of coordinating could you pass this note along to Teresa too?)
d.) take sheets back from Carol and put back in green file for next week
e.) choir practice goes until 12:30 incase any parents ask
Note, some classes were in the cafeteria having snack when it was time to collect the kids for choir practice...their teachers just let them go from there. Also, the month of Dec. will mean a different teacher each Sunday so many of them will be unfamiliar with the routine and even which kids in their class are participating so the coordinators will really have to head up this effort for it to run smoothly.

A question was brought up concerning the 4th grade class. Since there are no boys in this class should we tell the parents of a visiting 4th grade boy that, it is indeed, an all girls class and let them decide where they want their son to be. (3rd, 4th or 5th) Seems to me we should, what does everyone else think?

Just a few other notes: *Galen and Teresa Derstine need new family ID cards
*Esther Thompson will be an aide this coming week for Michaiah Hughes
*Wherever this would apply... Anne Schott wants her last name changed to Rizzo like that of her son Danny. I think she is number 205.

Hope I'm not forgetting anything.
May you all have a victorious week as a new creation in Christ!

Connie

Notes from November 7, 2010

* Karin Cook switched with Cheryl Coulson in the nursery, so Cheryl will be helping on Nov 14th

* Myka & Mari Knepp can be changed to the Late Preschool attendance

* Brendon Loux is still not showing on the 6th grade attendance

* Chad Clemens requested that we move Moses from 4th to 3rd grade. On Sun he would not go to class because with Bennett leaving he remains the only boy in the 4th grade class :-( He has several friends in 3rd grade and would like to move down to be with his buddies. I think this is a fair request, but the changes will need to be made on the attendance and name tag sheets

* all the aids showed up with the exception of Sandra Arocho, but we were fine without her so it didn't pose a problem

* we are in need of more encouragement cards

* I did have a question about diaper changing in the nursery from Karin Cook (who I believe is fairly new to that role). Anyway, I did not know the answer, but thankfully was able to find it in the Coordinators Manual in the bin. I was VERY thankful for quick access to that binder, yet something in my memory (or lack of :-) says Blake was seeking to have that updated (Blake was that suppose to be my job??)

* a note for Jocelyn, I was talking with Ed & Connie and in the conversation realized that as the blog gets updated they receive an email notifying them. Scott and I would not be receiving emails when someone posts one the blog. I'm wondering if it's because we came on board after the blog was established, or maybe I neglected to set things up right when we registered? Whatever the reason, it would be nice to resolve it so that we can get emails. Our current practice has been to sign on the blog Sat night b/4 we serve and read through to see what we need to know before Sun morning. This past weekend we forgot to check the blog (oops) b/4 Sun and I was concerned there might be something we should know about and didn't. Also, just read your blog post tonight with the request to post things by Wed...good to know. So let me know if there is something on my end that I need to do so that we get emailed updates. Thanks!

Coordinators report Oct.31

A relatively quiet morning.

Two names to add to the Early Preschool attendance sheet. Callie Herr and Noah Derstine. Noah is not "officially" a Derstine, but for all teachers and aides whom he will come in contact with, we want them to know he belongs to us. :)

We are missing the Nursery sign for outside the door. Galen quickly made one up two weeks ago.

Regarding the 5th Sunday and the aides for Myka and Sean. Would it be possible to list aides for them on the sheet for that Sunday. Possibly asking one of the aides already assigned them the other weeks. that way we would not need to bring in another person. I realize the 5th Sunday does not come along often but it does come up and I often feel like I'm scrambling to get people.

Blake had discussed with us the possibilty of assigning aides to certain classrooms ahead of time and that way they would know where to go from week to week. Upon thinkng that through more, Galen and I came to the conclusion, that it's a great idea and seems like it would make things run so smoothly, but just like this past Sunday we are switching aides around constantly depending on the size of the class, who is teaching, the gender of the aide and age etc. There are so many variables some weeks as to who goes where that we just felt that even if aides were assigned months ahead we would probably still end up having to switch things around. Plus, some aides like the variety of different class rooms from time to time. Any other thoughts are welcome.

Have a great rest of the week.
Teresa
